The Descendants of the Knights of the Bath is a hereditary society based on membership that brings together men and women who share Knights of the Bath ancestry or lineage.
The objects of the Descendants of the Knights of the Bath are declared to be patriotic, historical, and educational, and shall include those intended or designed to perpetuate the memory of those Knights who rendered honorable service for the King or Queen of Great Britain and Ireland; to promote fellowship among their descendants; to inspire them and the community-at-large with a more profound reverence for the heritage, deeds, and memory of our ancestor Knights; to encourage historical research; to acquire and preserve the military records of the individual services of the Knights, as well as documents, relics, and landmarks; to mark the scenes of the fallen Knights by appropriate memorials; to celebrate the anniversaries of the prominent events of their time period; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of freedom.
Any man or woman shall be eligible for membership in the Order who, being a citizen of good repute in the community, is the lineal descendant, in the male or female line, of an ancestor who was invested as a Knight of the Bath, who was at all times unfailing in loyalty to, and rendered active service in the cause for, the King or Queen. These Knights are listed in the Rolls of the Knights of the Bath, from the year 1127 A.D. through the year 1904 A.D. (1127 - 1904). This list may be found in Knights of England by Wm. A. Shaw. If you choose to use a knight from the period 1905 up into the 21st Century, then you will need to send "proof" of your ancestor having been invested as a Knight of the Bath.
